Hi, I'm Eric Lindgren - the head potter here (this picture is from long ago when I had more hair).
Current Showroom Hours - Tuesday - Saturday - see details below
|I first made pots in the old farmhouse on Lindgren Road in 1975 (41 years ago), and later my wife Cathy and I established Lindgren Pottery in a new workshop and showroom next to our farmhouse in 1981. The showroom here is open to the public through the year. We used to sell to shops and galleries as well as exhibit at craft shows, but since 1990, our work has only been available at our showroom here in the woods outside Huntsville.
Ten years ago we built a new workshop and then moved the showroom downstairs to the ground floor - the space is twice as big as before. If you haven't visited in a while we're sure you will appreciate the 'new' showroom.
Six years ago, the big excitement here was that we were selected to make the dinnerware and serving pieces for the G-8 Leaders Summit at Deerhurst Resort. It was a huge undertaking (481 pieces) and went quite smoothly. We were pleased to know that the pieces were subsequently sent to the Canadian government's summer residence at Harrington Lake. Referring as well to the G-10 summit and the contributions of other Canadian makers there, I said "We are proud to represent Canada and Muskoka, flattered to be chosen, and thrilled that Canadian art and craft had such prominence at the two Summits."
|We make stoneware pottery: special individual pieces as well as a line of functional pots, including square dinnerware; pots for the kitchen, table, and garden. Many sizes and types of vases and planters are always in stock. Stoneware bathroom sinks in three sizes and many glaze combinations are either in stock or ready to be fired.
There are 4 of us involved in making the pots - Cathy who helps with the kiln, and myself, our assistant Edith, and Kyle who helps with some of the production (but also makes his own pottery). The pieces that Kyle makes for us have a K added to my logo, and Edith's have an added E. In the past Trevor (T) and Gord (G) worked with us. This type of collaboration and marking are a traditional European arrangement. I design and oversee all the pots, but cannot make them all, so that's why I have helpers, and why we don't spread the work around to other outlets.
Lindgren Pottery wares are only stocked in the Showroom at Lindgren Pottery
